Affiliate Summit West 2011 brought together over 4,600 affiliate marketers at the Wynn Las Vegas, which marks eight years of consecutive growth for the conference.
The crowd of marketers was more than 10% larger than the previous year and more than 140% the size of the attendance from two years ago.
Affiliate marketing works like this … a website on a topic like a sports team or hobby features relevant ads. When a visitor clicks through to purchase the product being advertised, the website owner earns a percentage of the sale.
It’s old-fashioned commission-based sales with an online twist.
According to comScore, the U.S. online holiday shopping season reached a record $32.6 billion for the November-December period – that’s up 12 percent vs. a year ago.
